My name is Emil Jorge and I have the honor of being the Chairman of the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce for 2017. I was born and raised in Los Alamitos, went through the Los Alamitos Unified School System, and went off to college. Then, a few years later, I came back home to open my first business in Los Alamitos. When my college friends would visit, they would always comment that Los Alamitos felt like a Norman Rockwell painting. They drove through the neighborhoods and saw children playing in the streets while parents mowed their lawns in this well-manicured microcosm of the American Dream! I never thought of it as special; it was just home.
After years of living and working in Los Alamitos, I began to see our community through a different lens. We have exceptional police and fire departments. Our schools are some of the best in the state. We have the finest non-profit organizations. But, most importantly, I’ve come to realize how vital our business community is in helping build and maintain this oasis we call home! I have been privileged to be involved in Casa Youth Shelter; the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Commission; and now, the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce. The common thread that weaves through all of these organizations is the massive support from our business community. Without their support we would not be able to bring you the Wings, Wheels and Rotors Expo; Winter Wonderland; State of the City; the Police Appreciation Luncheon; the Regional Military Affairs Committee; and many more events that ensure that Los Alamitos remains ranked as one of the best places to live in the United States!
If you want to know how you can help our cause, join the Chamber of Commerce, come by our monthly breakfast on the first Friday of every month, and/or volunteer to help us put together an event. Most importantly, before you make a purchase, think of our local businesses first. Remember; BUY LOCAL, BUY LOS AL!
