Policy Platform

This platform provides direction to the Los Alamitos Area Chamber of Commerce in the development of positions on legislation, and other public policy issues:

Facilitate a market-based economy with emphasis on the following issues:

• Curtailment of frivolous litigation
• Promote efficiency in government

Improve educational and cultural service systems with emphasis on the following issues:

• Promotion of community cultural and educational programs
• Support and assist processes that provide a qualified and able workforce

Eliminiate excessive regulation with the emphasis on the following:

• Reduce laws and regulations which impose an undue burden on private business and property
• Eliminate overlapping jurisdictions among regulatory agencies
• Privatize government services whenever it is cost effective

Support programs with emphasis on the following issues:

• Maintain and utilize existing infrastructure to meet present needs
• Support economic growth
• Promote revitalization upgrades necessary to support planned growth
• Encourage efficient, cost effective transportation, housing, safety, natural resources and education

Community Leadership with emphasis on the following:

• Elected officials that are pro business
• Promoting the free enterprise system
• Support Programs that stimulate planned growth
